Yep..it's Mother's Day Eve. All through the house, everything is just as it always is LOL. Mother's day isn't any particularly special day around here, neither is valentines day, and I'm ok with that. Let me explain why Daddy doesn't go out of his way to shower me with specialness on these 'important' days.
I'll start with valentines day, we do sort of half ass celebrate it, as in we'll have a date night sometime in the week of valentines, but will usually choose a cheesy/guy flick movie instead of a Rom-Com...those seriously make me want to vomit, and I'm sometimes afraid my eyes will roll right out of my head. Daddy doesn't feel like too much more is needed here, not because he doesn't love me, or think I deserve a date night, or a nice gesture from him, but because he doesn't take just one day a year to do these things for me. Daddy thinks that in a relationship you should always do those little things (opening doors, helping with jackets etc) daily, and not just on 'special' occasions, if I'm really as special as he says I am, then why don't I deserve these things daily?
So, when it comes to our kiddos, Daddy does a pretty good job at teaching them that they should always love and respect me. He is teaching them to always appreciate me, and the many things I do for them each day. He is showing them by example as well, always is sure to use his manners, which means saying please and thank you frequently. Hand in hand with that is teaching them how to apologize gracefully and how to admit when a mistake was made. These are lessons that happen in our house on a daily basis, so while yes, the school system puts emphasis on Mother's Day, we in our house don't so much. Tomorrow will probably be a pretty typical day..but maybe I'll get a nap!
To celebrate a bit though, we did take the kiddos to grab dinner tonight, then went and spent some time at the park, while the kids played and ran around tiring themselves out, I wrote. I found some of the prettiest notebooks at Michael's (the craft store), they were on clearance, and I ended up paying only $2.70! The original crazy price was nearly $10! Love that store, but definitely have to shop the sales! So I got to sit and write in my awesome notebook, and listen to the girls run around and play.
After the park, the girls had been so good we decided on a run through the McDonald's drive thru for ice cream :) When we got home, there was surprisingly no argument about them getting in pjs and cuddles for bed. The snuggles were peaceful and both girls fell asleep before I left their room from tucking them in tonight. NO FIGHTING! NO ARGUING! This is my request for tomorrow too..if I don't get it, that's fine. I still got it for a few hours tonight and it was awesome!
Thank you to Daddy, Sissy and the kiddos, the people that tell me every day how important I am, and let me know how screwed they'd be without me!
