Yes ladies and gentlemen, I have an obsession. Ok, let's be honest here; I have a few obsessions, but I'm only going to delve into one-ish in this writing. I say one-ish because my biggest odd obsession for the time being is rolling papers.
Rolling papers?
What the hell are those?
If you don't know, then there's a good chance you're going to find this post..well, odd.
If you do know what I'm talking about..then we'll get started in just a minute..but first, a little background information for our friends less inclined to be acquainted with our leafy green friend.
Yes, along with having a small (tiny, really!) obsession with rolling papers, I smoke weed.
I know!
How could I?
Well..it's pretty easy for me actually, I can get into the actual 'hows' of it later if you'd like me to, but for now, what you need to know is that I started smoking casually many years ago, in the last little while it's become something I do daily as pain management.
That's how I deal, you can choose to agree or disagree with that, and it is your right to do so; it is also my right however not to want to hear your opinion if you don't agree with me.
So please, keep any nasty comments to yourself, I will live my life as I see fit, and you are free to do the same.
Now, a brief description for you of what exactly a rolling paper is (just in case you live under a rock..it could happen!).
Rolling paper is a specially designed clean burning thin paper that is used for rolling tobacco, weed or other herbs that you wish to smoke. (Other smoking herbs such as these ) So, not just weed, if you smoke anything you may be interested in this.
Alright friends, now that the house cleaning type stuff is done..we can dive into the fun part and talk about my obsession with rolling papers.
More specifically my favourite ones are Juicy Jay's. (<-- Link if you'd like to visit their website!)
I'd like to point out here that Juicy Jay's prints on every package that these papers are intended for use with legal non-tobacco smoking herbs such as Passion Flower or Sage as well here..we don't want them to get into any legal trouble because I don't use their product as they intended me to, that's not their fault, I really like the papers!
They're made in Alcoy, Spain, which they claim is the birth place of rolling papers.
That's pretty neat.
To be honest, I don't care much about the history of them.
Why the obsession then?
For starters, there's just something so artistic and pretty about a nicely rolled joint. I feel like a good paper is the start of a good joint!
So..let's get started shall we?

For starters, there's just something so artistic and pretty about a nicely rolled joint. I feel like a good paper is the start of a good joint!

- I LOVE that they're longer than typical papers. Juicy Jay's come in 1 1/4" length, where typical papers are only about 1". I like to add a filter to my joints; wait..that's a lie, I don't roll joints. I can on occasion do it, but usually if there's joints being smoked around here Daddy was the one to roll it. I am still picky though and like a filter, the longer paper allows for the filter without feeling like you're getting ripped off with your joint. I know other papers are long too, but that brings me to my next point...
- I LOVE the artwork on the front of the pack. Each flavour comes in a pack that is a different colour, and the artwork on the front of each flavour is unique. I'm serious, there's green, orange, red, brown, white, purple, yellow, pink, blue, and even black.
- Going along with the cover artwork, each flavour of paper has a design printed RIGHT ON THE PAPER! They're really cool looking! It really does stand out, and I like that they're unique. They could have made them all white, still flavoured, but white. That wouldn't be nearly the experience that the designs are.
- The way these papers smell, you could close your eyes and swear you were holding the item in your hand. One of my personal favourite is Candy Cane flavour, the paper is white and red stripes, smells just like a candy cane, and has a delicious minty/vanilla flavour.
- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the flavours! There's SO many! I'm obsessed with collecting/trying them all!
This is the bulk of what I want to talk about..so that's enough for that list!
The flavours are absolutely amazing! Juicy Jay's has what they call a 'triple-dip system' for flavouring their papers and I have no desire to know how it works, but I know they have something spectacular happening there!
I'm not sure how many flavours there are, but I can tell you that I own 30 different ones, and there are several more that I don't own...yet.
I found a 'master' list of the flavours available on the Juicy Jay's website, so started working on collecting those, my goal really is just to smoke each flavour once, just to say that I have.
What happens though? I was out looking at some glass pieces one day and noticed some gray packs of Jay's that I had never seen before, and they were flavours I knew weren't on my master list!
"WTF?!" I thought to myself..I had to check them out.
They looked like Juicy Jay's the artwork was amazing, they were wrapped in plastic (most Jay's aren't plastic wrapped) upon closer inspection, they were super fine.
Thinner than regular papers?
Sounds good to me! So I had to start adding them to my collection as well.
Then...
THEN!
I found....

******** **SPECIAL EDITION!**********
These three different types are what make up my 30 different flavours, so it's not too bad, but there's about 13 more flavours that I know about and do not have in my possession but I'm working on it!
So yes.. 43 different flavours that I'm aware of.
Not all of them are listed on the website, the superfine and the special edition ones as far as I can tell, there's no record of..there has to be but it has turned into sort of a maddening hunt for me.
I have my own master list with all the flavours I found on the website, as well as all the ones that I knew weren't on the website, so I just grabbed them, but I need to take my list with me when I go shopping because my memory is crap and I can never remember by the time I get home if something is different in the store than on my list.
I have a few places a regularly check out to pick up different flavours, most of the ones I have on my list that I haven't acquired yet, I've at least located and will be adding to my collection as I'm able. Daddy has put me on a paper buying limit...and has told me at this point that I'm now allowed to purchase anymore until we at the very least try all the ones we already have.
To go along with the flavoured papers, I also LOVE flavoured blunts. Juicy Jay's also offers a wide variety of flavours in those as well, which I'm also collecting, but not as avidly. I must admit, I don't smoke blunts as often as I like to have Daddy roll me a small joint, so the papers are much more useful to me for practical applications.
So...why the fascination with these papers?
I have NO idea..but they taste as amazing as they smell, and I feel like they really help enhance the smoking experience, not to mention the awesome prints on the papers themselves!
I want to share with you my collection, and would love to hear about yours too, if you're strange like me!
Am I strange?
Ah...who's to judge that?

The papers specifically listed as not pictured were not pictured because they were MIA when the pictures were taken! They have since been located and reunited with their friends and family and are recovering quite well. I don't want anyone to worry about them! |
So there's a look at what I know about Juicy Jay's rolling papers. It's not much, but since I'm only interested in smoking them and not reproducing them, I know more than enough!
I'd love to know what ya'll think about my list, have you seen any Jay's papers that I don't have listed here? Let me know! You can leave a comment below, or send me an email! Don't forget to include pics, and I'll add them to my list and keep an eye out for them!
What do you guys think of Jay's? Other papers you like? Why? I'm open to trying something new! Would love to hear from fellow stoners!
On that note...Puff... Puff... Pass...Happy 4:20!
